Emmi Törnroos

Emmi Aaltonen

I have over seven years experience conceptualizing and designing digital products. I am and end-to-end designer who really loves solving complex problems. Previously a front-end developer turned designer, I want to democritize design to the whole organisation and work closely with customers.

Previously, I helped establish and lead UX at Lyyti. I’m especially interested in data-driven design and want to base my design desicions on qualitative and quantitative data. Measuring the impact of design decisions is not only important for good usability but also for the viability of the solutions we build.

Person behind the designer

Ambitious DIY projects

I love doing things with my hands, be it upcycling a chair or sowing new curtains. My latest project is renovating an old sailboat.

Games

I love playing games on my computer and also on tabletop. It’s fun to learn new mechanics and get to spend quality time with your friends. I regularly play Dungeons and Dragons!

Values

Be curious.

We humans need to receive feedback in order to grow and to develop. I am always up for new challenges and improving myself, which is why I take Interaction Design Foundation courses regularly, read blogs and books and participate actively in the design community.

Be empathetic.

Empathy is a good trait to have as a designer. Being empathetic towards people using your products; being empathetic towards your team mates; being empathetic towards stakeholders. If I put myself in another person’s shoes and truly see the world through their eyes, I will get things done better and more efficiently.
